Copy Document Dialog

Used when you want to create a copy of the selected document in the same or another folder, and you also want to customize the properties and attributes the new document is to retain from the original. This dialog opens when No Wizard is set as the default method for creating documents, and you select a document and then select Document > Copy To.

SettingDescription
Source Document
  • Folder — Displays the name of the folder in which the selected document is located.
  • Document Name — Displays the name of the selected document.
  • File Name — Displays the name of the file attached to the selected document. If no file is attached, nothing displays in this field.
  • Select — Opens the Select Document dialog, allowing you to select a different source document to copy. Information in the Folder, Document Name and File Name fields changes accordingly when you select a different document.
Copy Options
  • Copy File — If on, the source document is copied to the target folder, and the attached file remains attached. If off, the source document is copied but the attached file is deleted. If no file is attached to the source document, the option is disabled.
  • Copy Attributes — If off, all attribute values will be lost when the document is copied. If on, and the destination folder shares the same environment, attribute values will be retained when the document is copied. If on, and the destination folder does not share the same environment, attribute values will be retained for the attributes that are the same in both environments, otherwise the attribute values will be lost. If the source folder is not associated to an environment, the option is disabled.
  • Copy Document Versions — If on, the source document is copied to the destination folder, and all versions of the source document are also copied to the destination folder. If off, only the source document is copied. If the source document has no versions, or if the source document itself is a version (but not the active version), the option is disabled.
Destination Document
  • Folder — Displays the path to and name of the folder in which the source document is to be copied. Initially, the folder for the destination document is the same as the folder for the source document.
  • Select — Opens the Select Folder dialog, allowing you to select a different folder to which to copy the source document.
  • Document Name — Use this field to rename the destination document. Initially, the document name for the destination document is the same as the document name for the source document.
  • Make document name and file name the same (lock icon and check box) — This option controls whether or not the document Name field is locked to the File Name field. If on, the File Name field is disabled from editing and locked to the Document Name field, so that whatever you enter in the Document Name field will also be entered in the File Name field. If off, the File Name field is enabled for editing, and you can edit the file name independently of the document name. When this option is on and you do not enter an extension in the Document Name field, then the file name will retain its original extension. If you do add an extension in the Document Name field, and that extension happens to be different than the file name's original extension, then the file name's extension will be changed to match the extension you entered in the Document Name field. The check box for this option is on by default. When on, the lock icon appears as locked. To turn this option off, click the check box. When off, the lock icon will appear unlocked. Assuming the check box is enabled, you can turn the option on or off as needed. If the check box is disabled from changing, it means your administrator has enforced document name locking at the datasource level, and you cannot turn off the option for this or any document.
  • Description — Use this field to change the destination document's description. Initially, the description for the destination document is the same as the description for the source document.
  • File Name — Use this field to rename the destination document's file name. Initially, the file name for the destination document is the same as the file name for the source document. If no file is attached to the source document, this field is disabled.
